DID YOU KNOW? Smoke Alarm Edition
In the case of a false alarm, the system will only reset properly by pushing the center globe button on the trigger unit. So, on the unit that prompted the system to alarm, the globe will flash red, that is the unit to reset. Otherwise, the system will trigger again. It’s a function of bringing attention to the area of concern.
For example, if a false alarm is triggered in the kitchen, say from cooking or burning food, pushing the button on the bedroom unit just to make the alarm stop will not properly reset the system.
Also, considering that in many new homes exist in a dusty environment, it’s a good idea to run a vacuum around the sensor ring to remove dust, pet hair etc.
If it becomes apparent that a unit is faulty, DTL will replace the unit for the first year. After that replacement would be done through the manufacturer.
