Back Flow Preventors – Mandatory code change or not?
Back Flow Preventors
There has been some confusion about the new OBC code requirements for Back Flow Preventers. The OBC now indicates that Back Flow Preventers are required, if required by the governing municipal authority. This change has been made effective since Jan.1st 2014. In the case of Central Elgin the bi-law is in place and therefore has come into effect on Jan. 1st 2014. For the city of St.Thomas there is not currently a bi-law requirement in place, so they are not yet officially required in St.Thomas. Doug Tarry Homes has been including the Back Flow Preventers in all new homes consistently since the fall of 2013.
